Surprisingly, I really love the romance story between humans and the alien souls, but also the uniqueness of the background of the movie. Sci-fi movies are always my favorite, especially when we get to experience a different environment and atmosphere inside the story.
After watching The Host, I bought the book and read it the next day. Having read the book, I realized that there were much more content, especially the moments between the main characters, Melanie and Wanderer. The book also portrays the characters better, as it gives much more details for example their dialogue and little body movements. Therefore, when I watched the movie for the second time, I realized that the movie was much more brief. In view of this, I would suggest watching the movie before actually reading the book.
Another reason that I was really absorbed into the movie is the acting. Saoirse ronan played the main character, Melanie as well as Wanderer, who she managed these characters really well. From her gestures, talking and accents, I was amazed her ability to separate two characters perfectly. Especially when she plays Wanderer, she has managed to perform a flawless soul in contrast with the braveness of Melanie. She is definitely a highlight in this movie.
